WHO IS ELENA SVING?
1. What is your function? Not just your title, but what do you do?
I am a Sales Assistant at the Scandinavian office in Stockholm. My main task is to ensure that everything runs smoothly at the office and with customer relations. I work closely with the Managing Director and help her by organizing meetings and events.
2. How long have you been with Absolutely Independent?
I’ve been with Absolutely Independent since October 1st, 2009, so I’m one of the new ones.
3. What did you do previously?
Being as young as I am, I’ve still managed to try out various jobs. But the ones in which I feel that I’ve grown and that have pushed me in the right direction are working in sales in Sydney Australia; in Customer service; and as Head of Office/Production Assistant at a production company for commercials. The last one made me realize that I love working with media and that I belong in this business.
I also freelanced a bit this summer working on the set of commercials, and I worked on a six-week-long shoot for a TV series.
4. What did you study, if anything?
I’ve studied movie making and editing, and now I’m taking a course to learn how to run a small business. It’s fun and very interesting.
5. What do you do in your spare time?
I spend a lot of my time with friends; they’re like family to me. Often, we just watch movies, have a nice glass of wine (or tequilas on the weekend). I like cooking dinner at my friends’ homes or taking weekend trips to visit friends in London or Berlin. I’m young, so I always need to be doing something, going somewhere, or making something.
6. What (or who) is your passion in life?
I must say that traveling and people are my passion. I’ve been traveling a lot over the last five years and I’ve made friends all over the world. So going back to visit is just what I live for. Another thing that I have a great interest in is recycling every aspect of it. Most things in my life are about buying second-hand and not throwing things away. I re-make or recycle everything possible. I’m a big fan of organic food and I also try to buy fair-trade products. And yes, my answer to your question is: I am a vegetarian, and no, I don’t eat fish. Maybe it doesn’t go hand in hand with traveling and planes and pollution, but I do my bit, I think.
7. What do you like best about your job at Absolutely Independent?
Even if it’s just me and Sarah at the office in Sweden I just love the feeling of being a part of such a wonderful team. My day at Absolutely is always creative in some way and I like that I always have something to do, pushing my self to do things faster and better.
I haven’t been here that long but so far I’m very glad that I was chosen to do this job.
