WHO IS SARAH JELVEFORS?
1. What's your function? Not just your title, but what do you do?
I'm the Managing Director and Sales Manager of the Swedish office. We are responsible for Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Iceland, Russia and the CIS countries. We're also responsible for the results generated from this office. I work closely with our office assistant, Gabriella, also situated here in Stockholm.
I travel regularly to meet broadcasters and people from production companies. The job involves everything from finding new formats to represent and evaluate, to pitching, negotiating and closing contracts. I go to the head office in Amsterdam on a regular basis; we try to meet once a month. I always attend the TV markets in Cannes and the annual Discop.
2. How long have you been with Absolutely Independent?
I began representing Absolutely Independent and their catalogue to the Scandinavian market in 2004; in 2006, I became Managing Director of the Swedish office.
3. What did you do previously?
I was Head of Entertainment and a member of the board at Onside Television, a production company. I've worked at many different production companies in Sweden, including Jarowskij, Titan and Kajak Television, and Strix, where I headed up the Norwegian office in Oslo from 1999 to 2001.
4. What did you study, if anything?
I studied journalism at Poppius Journalism School. And I studied French at the Sorbonne in Paris, where I lived for a year and a half.
5. What do you do in your spare time?
I spend most of my spare time with my young daughter. I work out at least three times a week-Pilates and fitness-no matter what. I also like getting together with friends, and spending time in the outdoors, preferably near the sea.
6. What (or who) is your passion in life?
That's easy. No doubt about it-my daughter!
7. What do you like best about your job at Absolutely Independent?
The variety. And it's also a passion, not just a job! We're a very good team, and it's a good company to work for. Lots of room to grow on the job. And I also like the social aspect; there's a lot of contact with the clients.
