HISTORY

Historical Overview; the headlines
  • 1996: Absolutely Independent was founded by Patty Geneste as a one-woman-company on February 1st.

  • 1999: The first employee was hired.

  • 2000: We moved into our first rented office-space.

  • 2000: The Absolutely Group was incorporated.

  • 2001: We bought our current, newly-built office in Amsterdam-North.

  • 2003: We took the first steps toward forming a consulting service for advertisers who are interested in their own television programs but don’t know where to start. In 2004 this service expanded, motivating us to group these activities under a new name: Absolutely Branded. We’ve been developing the potential of this fascinating business unit ever since.

  • 2004: Absolutely Talent was launched. (We discontinued these activities in 2007.)

  • 2004: We became a member of the prestigious Academy, the organization for the (International) Emmy Awards. Patty Geneste now operates as a jury member on a regular basis. Last summer, Absolutely Independent hosted the semifinals in Amsterdam; 24 international top TV executives attended.

  • 2005: Sarah Jelvefors joined Absolutely Independent. In December 2005 we opened our office in Sweden, which covers the Scandinavian market, Finland, the Baltics, Poland, and Russia.

  • 2006: Our sub-brand Absolutely Charity was launched. We organized a wealth of charity initiatives, including Consulting Plan International; a party for elderly people; and our 2008 new-year’s gift produced by homeless people.

  • Today we have 6 full-time employees and one part-timer working from our offices in Amsterdam and Scandinavia.
