Once upon a time there was a baby goat who wandered the streets of Bonaire all by herself. Patty and her friends found her, hungry and dehydrated. They took her to the local Animal Care Centre immediately. But with room for only cats and dogs, there was no place for the harmless little goat.
 Patty and her friends searched and searched. Finally, they found a new home for baby ‘Patsky’. A tip from an islander led them to a special man who lives on an estate surrounded by birds, cats, dogs, goats - and even cows and horses. Upon meeting Patsky the goat, the man took her into his care.
This modest man had started out by caring for a single stray dog. But before he knew it, he had more than fifty helpless animals as his charges. With incredible love for each individual animal, he can never say no when a defenceless creature comes to his safe haven.
Taking care of so many animals consumes time and money. The man does not work alone, but has a team of volunteers to support him. He does all of the work for free and never asks for anything - except small donations to his Animal Friends Foundation on Bonaire. Every cent goes to the animals, his only charges. The little goat was happy to celebrate Christmas in a loving environment.
And so, this year, the Absolutely Independent Team has decided to make a donation to the Animal Friends Foundation.
