Absolutely Independent has added high-profile format ‘Studio 9’ to its catalogue. The company has teamed up with Dutch producers FTV, which also created The Best Singers.
“We’re
very happy we're taking this new step in the international market and
we’re confident Absolutely Independent is the right partner to team up
with for this format!”, says Frank Timmer, Creative Director at FTV Productions.
Studio 9, which made its debut at Dutch TVLab 2011,
puts music artists to the test. On each episode, a recording artist is
challenged to write and record a new song within 36 hours at Studio 9,
a legendary sound studio where the entire process takes place. But
there is a catch: the recording artist must work closely with a mystery
guest, a music professional but someone with a completely different
style. For example, it could be another singer, an entire choir, a
rapper, etc. The presenter will help the artist lead the process and
offer advice. Both Studio 9 and the songs produced as a result of the
program have been very successful in the Netherlands. The song resulting
from last week’s collaboration of artists came in at number 2 on the
iTunes download chart.
“FTV Productions is a unique company.
Their international break-through format is ‘The Best Singers’ and
we’re very proud to have closed a deal with them for their next big hit
‘Studio 9’! The format has already provided for three music hits in the
top three music charts already. We can’t wait to introduce Studio 9 to
our clients. I’m sure they’ll love it as much as we do!”, notes Patty Geneste of Absolutely Independent.
The format will be presented by Absolutely Independent at MIPTV next week.
