During the BANFF television festival in Canada, "El sistema" was selected by the jury as the winner. The show of Canadian Hemmings house Pictures follows how the Venezuelan government funded after school program "El Sistema" has put instruments into the hands of children who would never otherwise have a chance to be transformed by music. This project results in Venezuela being the exporter of professional classical musicians turning around the lives of underprivileged children.

The competition was jointly organized by Nederland 3 TV Lab, Absolutely Independent, and the BANFF organization. Nederland 3 TV Lab is a solid week of pilots only. The purpose is to spark new and innovative shows on the part of the Dutch pubcaster. Nederland 3 will broadcast selected pilots from the competition at its next TV Lab session.

The Gayest Show Ever was highlighted by the jury for its outgoing take on a subculture disclosing it in a broad accessible manner.
