After
an extensive preproduction period, commercial broadcaster VTM has now
started production on an initial four episodes each of Coming Out and Face Your Bullies.
Both programs have been slated to launch in Spring 2012. Says VTM
spokesperson: "We're very happy to have a cooperation in place with
Absolutely Independent on these two magnificent titles. We feel both
topics addressed in these programs are important to share with our
audience as they are totally recognizable and topical." Patty Geneste,
CEO of Absolutely Independent, agrees: "We're extremely proud that VTM
is the first broadcaster to commission two of our quite controversial
formats: Face Your Bullies and Coming Out. Factual entertainment that
features specific human-interest topics are of tremendous interest to
Dutch broadcasters. VTM has a proven track record on distinctive formats
and we're certain that this commission will motivate other option deals
for these formats to be turned into license deals."
Face Your Bullies
deals with yet another universal problem. It gives those who were
bullied as youngsters the opportunity to confront their bullies with the
pain they've caused. Owned by Dutch producer and presenter Peter van
der Vorst (Vorst Media), the second season for RTL4 is currently in
production. In addition, Face Your Bullies is currently under option in
Germany and the US.
