ABC in
the USA has commissioned RDF USA to produce a six-episode series of
‘Find My Family’, based on factual entertainment format
‘Spoorloos’ from Dutch public broadcaster KRO. Absolutely
Independent holds the exclusive and worldwide distribution rights to the
format. Former NFL star and ‘A Current Affair’ correspondent
Tim Green and former Fox and CBS entertainment reporter Lisa Joyner, both
adopted, are to host the series. ‘Find My Family’ helps
people to find long-lost friends and relatives.
"It's
one of those rare, feel-good shows that has cross-generational
appeal," said Tony Yates, chief operating officer at RDF Media USA.
‘Spoorloos’, which began life seventeen years ago on the KRO,
has already been produced as ‘Find My Family’ for Australia's
Seven Network and is currently airing in Sweden, Norway, Denmark,
Finland, Israel and Estonia with several other options lined up.
KRO’s Media Director Taco Rijssemus: “We are very proud that our
strongest format – ‘Spoorloos’ / ‘Find My
Family’ – which has scored extremely well and non-stop since
it’s launch seventeen years ago is now conquering the world with
the US deal topping it. It’s very recognizable emotainment with
often a happy end; true feel good television!”
Absolutely Independent CEO Patty Geneste:
“We always
believed that ‘Find My Family’ would bring the world together
one day. With the US on board we are really getting close…”
