EUROPEAN BORDER BREAKER AWARDS
EUROPEAN BORDER BREAKER AWARDS

It's a spectacular awards show! The European Border Breaker Awards 2010 features live performances by this year's—and former EBBA— winners who are now established artists.

Each year in January, crowds of people gather during The European Music Conference and Showcase Festival in the Netherlands for EuroSonic Noorderslag. You'll find 250 new bands and artists. More than 2,500 professional participants. And a total of over 15,000 attendees.

This event has evolved into the most important live-music-industry conference in Europe. And the conference hosts the 7th edition of the European Border Breaker Awards.

Via the European Border Breakers Awards (funded by the EU Culture Program), the European Union and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) wants to showcase ten European artists who have successfully launched a debut album and have toured outside their home territory. The prize aims to stimulate the cross-border circulation of artists' work—and to highlight Europe's great musical diversity.

This year, the 7th edition of the EBBA Awards show is even bigger than before—and it’s available for free!

Former winners of the European Border Breaker Award include established artists Carla Bruni, Adele, Katie Melua, Damien Rice, The Thrills, Gabriel Rios, The Fratellis, Basshunter, Dolores O’Riordan and many more.

The winners of the 2010 European Border Breakers Awards (EBBAs) have been chosen by the European Music Office (EMO) in cooperation with the EBU, the Billboard Information Group and the European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP) festivals. This year’s winners are:

Milow - Belgium; Charlie Winston - United Kingdom; Peter Fox - Germany; Soap & Skin - Austria; Kerli - Estonia; Jenny Wilson - Sweden; Buraka Som Sistema- Portugal; Sliimy - France; Esmee Denters - The Netherlands; Giusy Ferreri – Italy.

The winners will receive their awards in a show to be presented by legendary BBC presenter and musician Jools Holland in Groningen on 14 January 2010. A novelty for this 7th edition is the introduction of the Public Choice EBBA: one of the 2010 winners will be chosen by the European audience as the most popular border-busting act in Europe.

The European public can vote online starting November 26 via http://www.europeanborderbreakersawards.eu.

The show will be recorded at EuroSonic Noorderslag in the Netherlands on the 14th of January 2010. It will be available for international broadcast starting the 16th of January 2010.
